Experience, Inc. - Area Agency on Aging has many activities and events throughout the year. These include special dinners open to the public at the Warren Senior Community Center and RSVP and Area Agency on Aging fundraisers.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
All events, along with special activities at the Center utilize volunteers and staff members to make the activities run smoothly. Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year, not only at the below-mentioned activities but also at other organizations in town. Needs are varied and can include reception or telephone activities at the Visitor's Center and the Struthers Library Theatre. Anyone interested in volunteering for an event, please call the RSVP office at 814-723-7751.

JULY 28 - 4 - 7 p.m. SERVICES FAIR sponsored by Warren/Forest Area Agency on Aging
Where: Warren Senior Community Center, 905 Fourth Ave., Warren
Learn about the programs available to you. Free and open to the public. Refreshments and appetizers will be served.
August 9 - August 14 - Warren County Fair - RSVP Fruit Cup Stand. Volunteers needed (will receive free pass into fair for the day). Call 823-7751 if volunteering.
August 9 - August 14 - Warren County Fair - AAA Table in the Commercial Building (Gold Building). Pick up materials and talk with Experience, Inc. staff to learn what is offered to seniors.
September 11 - 5k Run/Walk - Annual event at Betts Park. Pre-registration $15 includes moisture control t-shirt. Registration 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Race starts at 10 a.m. Also includes a 50 meter dash race for children 4 years and under, and a 100 meter dash for children 5 -12. RSVP holds the Senior Ms. Pageant every year, with the crowning ceremonies at the Warren County Fair Grounds on August 11, 2010, at the Warren County Fair. Open to Warren or Forest County ladies age 55 and over, the Senior Ms. participates in events in the county throughout the year. Entry into the pageant requires a $15 entry fee and a completed application. They must be turned in this year by June 11. Each of four finalists will receive a voting form to carry with them to collect votes at $1 per signature. A float in the Warren County 4th of July Parade will kick off the pageant. The Area Agency on Aging also sponsors a booth at the Warren County Fair, where information about Agency services may be picked up and explained by AAA employees. RSVP also shares the site for their fruit stand, continuing to raise money for their programs.
"In Our Prime"
5K Race and 1 mile fun walk
Saturday, September 11, 2010, Betts Park, Warren, PA
Registration - 8:30 a.m. Race start time - 10 a.m.
A new event, the "In Our Prime" 5k run/walk is scheduled for September 11, 2010. Registration is through the Area Agency on Aging and can be done ahead of time online or at the Community Center. The event begins at Betts Park, Warren, with a trail to follow that goes to the Experience, Inc. facility on Fourth Avenue and to the downtown Warren area, then back to the park.
The Meals on Wheels Golf Tournament, held by the Area Agency on Aging each June at Blueberry Golf Course in Scandia, raises money for the Meals on Wheels programs in Warren and Forest Counties. The next tournament is scheduled for June 13, 2011. Register early or send in your sponsorship by printing, completing the form and mailing it to Experience, Inc., 905 Fourth Avenue, Warren, PA 16365. The Senior Games, an annual RSVP event, are held in June at Betts Park in Warren. Early registration is suggested and the application form can be found on the home page each year. Many types of games are offered, for all levels of activity. This is a fun day for all who participate, as well as the volunteers. Come join us each year in June.
